ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF LAND

Bloom River Journeys humbly acknowledges that we operate within the traditional territory of many Indigenous communities. Our Desert Bloom Trip is within the traditional territory of many nations, including the Ute, Diné, and Timpanogos Peoples. On the Rogue River, between Almeda Bar and Foster Bar, we acknowledge the territories of the Tolowa Dee-ni’, Takelma, Modoc, Cow Creek Umpqua, Tututni, the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.

We extend our respect to these nations and all others, both acknowledged and unacknowledged, recorded and unrecorded, who have been, are, and will be the past, present, and future caretakers of this land.

In our commitment to fostering respect, peace, and right relations, we recognize our responsibility as settlers to bring awareness to and acknowledge the native land upon which we live, work, and play. Embracing the principles of deep ecology, we understand that the land is not a mere backdrop to our activities but a living, dynamic, and interconnected entity. Rejecting the nature-culture dualisms, we strive to live, play, and work with the land, honoring its inherent value and agency.

Bloom River Journeys is dedicated to honoring the legacy of these lands and their peoples by fostering a deep connection and respect for the environment, its history, and the current Indigenous communities of the area.

To further your understanding and acknowledgment of the land you occupy, we invite you to explore resources for learning, including the Ute, Diné, Timpanogos, Tolowa Dee-ni’, Takelma, Modoc, Cow Creek Umpqua, Tututni, the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Tribal Pages.
